The Qonic Beta is here!

After two years of development and gathering feedback from our closed beta community, we are ready to share the open beta. This isn't just a milestone; it's a chance for us to get more feedback, build a wider community, and put our product to the test. We believe the insights from users like you will help us make Qonic even better.

This is not a commercial product launch. Some features are still in the labs, and many of them will be released in the coming weeks and months. In this blog post, we will explain what will be possible in the Qonic open beta, and which features are upcoming.

What’s in the box?

Our long-term plan is to build a platform where working together on design and construction projects doesn't mean starting from scratch each time the project moves to the next phase. Qonic is designed to make modelling and collaboration in the design and construction industry simpler and streamline the whole process without the hassle of rework.

To make that long term plan happen, we must build a number of intermediate releases moving forward. We need to start with a limited scope and therefore we are focusing on the following workflows for this first launch:

Design Coordination

Import existing IFC or RVT design intent models and enhance them with additional alphanumerical and geometrical data. Add missing properties, fix inconsistent attributes, split walls and slabs into assemblies with individual parts, and so forth.

Quantity Take-offs

Enrich imported IFC or RVT models so they can be used for accurate quantity take-off. Consistently add classification codes and material information from project-wide libraries, and calculate correct quantities based on several measurement standards.

Foundations

To make this possible, Qonic is built on these foundations

  • Cloud Collaboration: Break down geographical barriers and work together in the cloud.
  • Change Management: Revisions are inherently built into every model, eliminating the need for complex file management. Retrieve the complete history of all changes at any time.
  • Intuitive UI/UX: Enjoy a modern and simple user interface, making Qonic accessible to everyone.
  • Performance: Experience fast and powerful software where large and complex models are no longer slowing you down.
  • Solid Modeler: Our 3D modeling engine supports complex geometry such as NURBS and allows easy manipulation of any imported geometry.
  • Cross-Platform Compatibility: Qonic works on various platforms, including Windows, MacOS, web browsers, Android, and iOS.

Beta Launch Details

The Qonic beta can be accessed here at app.qonic.com. Sign up, invite your coworkers, and start uploading models. A sample project and model are available to quickly get you started and explore our tools.

There are some known limitations, which will be lifted in the coming weeks:

  • Feel free to start modelling and make modifications to your models, but your changes will not be saved. All modifications will be reset when reloading the application.
  • Next to Windows and Mac versions, Qonic works directly in your browser. However, for performance reasons, we only support Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers, on a desktop machine. The mobile version will be made available later.
  • The Revit plugin installer is not yet available and will be made available later.

Your feedback is crucial!

It plays a big role in making Qonic better. We value your input and look forward to building Qonic together. Share your thoughts through our dedicated portal, via email, or on social media. Your insights matter, and we're here to listen.

  • Find answers to common questions in our FAQ section at help.qonic.com. It's a quick way to address concerns and ensure a smooth onboarding process.
