Qonic November 2026 Release: Qonic AI and Wall Tool

Published 17 hours ago by
Barbra Kinnart

The November 2026 release of Qonic, the browser-based BIM platform built around open IFC, brings Qonic AI agents that find, check and update your model for you. It also introduces a new Wall Tool built on components instead of fixed types, grids drawn from your own curves, and the full Qonic interface in nine languages.

You model, agents scale.

Watch the full release video:

This release in short

  • Less manual: Qonic AI agents find, check and update your model for you, straight from the chat.
  • Less rigid: a new Wall Tool built on components, so you can work on any layer of a single wall without losing the link to its component.
  • Less locked in: models from any authoring tool through open IFC, and your own AI assistant through MCP.

New Capabilities

1. Qonic AI: agents that find, check and update your model

In most BIM software, AI is another disconnected layer. It finds problems and leaves the fixing to you. Qonic AI works inside the model. Its agents find, check and update elements directly, using Qonic's own tools: completing missing properties, building reports, editing geometry and more. You stay in control. Human when it matters, AI when it helps.

Open Ask Qonic, the chat in the bottom left corner, and describe what you need in plain language. Not sure where to start? The suggestions in the chat show what it can do. Qonic AI is in beta, and it gets more capable with every release.

  • Find and show: ask Qonic AI to isolate all furniture and colour it by level, and it does both in one go. Press 0 to reset your view and clear all highlights.
  • Check your data: ask whether all windows have a fire rating, and Qonic AI tells you which ones are missing it and selects them for you.
  • Fix your data: tell it to assign F60 to those windows, and it finds the right property and fills in the value.
  • Build reports: ask for a concrete quality report grouped by building and concrete type, and Qonic AI sets it up in the Report panel. Adjust the grouping and filters by hand, or simply ask again.
  • Edit and create geometry: make selected windows 3.5 metres wider, or model a building or facade from prompts and reference images. Anything you can do through the interface, you can do by asking.
  • Any model: because Qonic runs on open IFC, Qonic AI works on models from any authoring tool.
  • Choose your AI model: pick Sonnet, Opus or Astra, depending on how much reasoning the task needs.
  • MCP support: bring the AI assistant you already use. Through the Qonic MCP server, Claude Code and Codex can look up your projects and models, query elements and calculate quantities, export to IFC, change elements and manage library items. With Qonic open, your assistant can also work in your live session, just like Ask Qonic. It only does what your role allows, and its changes stay as your personal changes until you publish them. Working through MCP doesn't use Qonic tokens: your assistant's own provider bills its usage. Read how to connect your assistant.
  • Tokens: Qonic AI runs on tokens. Paid plans include a monthly token allowance based on your plan. The free plan doesn't include tokens, but anyone can buy a one-off token pack from €50. Bought tokens never expire, and you can check your balance anytime under Plans and billing in the dashboard.

2. A new way to model walls

In most BIM software, the layers of a wall are locked inside its type. Want to split a layer or change it on one wall? You open the type editor, and every wall of that type changes with it. And walls that come in from another tool are often hard to rebuild or reuse.

Qonic takes a different approach. Walls are built from components instead of constrained families, so you can keep shaping them. Work on any layer of a single wall, split it, cut through it, align to it or flip it, while the wall stays linked to its component. Turn any wall into a component, including walls imported from IFC or Revit, and reuse it straight away.

  • Any wall becomes a component: right-click any wall, including one from an imported IFC or Revit model, and turn it into a reusable wall component, without setting up a single parameter. Store it in a component library, then drag it into the model to start drawing with it.
  • Work layer by layer: split a layer, change its thickness, cut an opening through just one layer, or add a new one, all on a single wall.
  • Align to any layer: align a wall along its centre, left or right, or along a single layer such as the brick skin. Change the alignment or flip the layers at any time after placing.
  • Bend and reshape: move endpoints, hold Ctrl to edit a single segment, or bend a straight wall into an arc.
  • Adaptive Component Linking: change a wall's height or length, or cut an opening in it, and it stays linked to its component. Only a change to the build-up, such as adding a layer, makes it a modified instance.
  • Variants: turn a modified wall into a new variant of its component, for example the same wall with 2 cm of plaster, and draw with it straight away.
  • Wall Replacement: replace existing walls with a new variant in one go, including walls in imported models.

We'll keep extending the Wall Tool with every release. Got an idea or a workflow you'd like to see? Let us know.

3. Extended Language Support

A model is only useful if the whole team can work with it, and on many projects that team works in more than one language. The full Qonic interface, both the dashboard and the app, is now available in English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese and Traditional Chinese. Missing your language? Let us know and we'll look into it.

Feature Additions

Modelling

  • Grids from chalk curves: draw lines and arcs with the Chalk tool, move or rotate them however you like, and turn them into a grid you can snap to. Irregular and rotated grids are now as easy to set out as rectangular ones.
  • Grid editing: hold Ctrl to select a single grid axis, including in imported grids, and move or rotate it with the Transform tool.

Libraries

  • Multi-select and copy library items: select several materials or types at once with Shift, copy them, and paste them into another project. Set up your standards once, and reuse them wherever you need them. Support for more kinds of library items, such as components, will follow.

Drawings

  • Improved live preview: see a clearer preview of your drawing while you set it up.
  • Door swings: choose whether door swings appear in your drawings with a new checkbox in the drawing generation preset.
  • Remembered presets: Qonic now remembers the last preset you used to generate drawings.
  • View link: open the view a drawing was generated from, straight from the drawing.

Data and QTO

  • Improved calculators: more accurate calculations for space areas and reinforcing bar lengths, straight from your live model data.

Interoperability

  • BCF export: select issues in the Issues panel and export them to BCF, ready to pick up in your coordination tool of choice.

Visualisation

  • Visualisation improvements: a round of visual refinements that make your model look better in 3D.

Platform

  • Archive projects: archive projects you're no longer working on to keep your dashboard tidy, without deleting them.
  • Split breadcrumb dropdown: a clearer breadcrumb menu makes it quicker to move between projects and models.
  • Hidden model unloading: models you hide are unloaded, so large federated projects stay responsive.

Core Stability

A round of fixes across the dashboard, drawings and access.

Dashboard

  • Fixed project images not fitting inside dialogs and restored the estimated size dropdown
  • Hid the project limit banner on the free plan
  • Fixed feature lock issues

Drawings

  • Drawings are now saved only after you edit their content
  • Grid mode is now off when you open the drawing editor
  • Drawings are now unlocked on sample projects and your first projects

Access and security

  • The model access request e-mail now opens the access dialog directly
  • Patched vulnerable dependencies

Frequently asked questions

What is Qonic AI? Qonic AI is the agentic AI built into Qonic. Its agents work inside your BIM model: they find and check elements, complete missing properties, build reports and edit geometry, using the same tools you would. You use it through Ask Qonic, the chat in the bottom left corner of the Qonic application.

Does Qonic AI cost extra? Qonic AI runs on tokens. Paid plans include a monthly token allowance based on your plan, and anyone can buy a one-off token pack from €50. Bought tokens never expire.

Can I connect my own AI assistant to Qonic? Yes. Through the Qonic MCP server, Claude Code and Codex can work with your projects and models. Working through MCP doesn't use Qonic tokens.

Can I edit walls imported from Revit or IFC in Qonic? Yes. With the new Wall Tool, you can turn any imported wall into a reusable component, work on its individual layers and replace it with a new variant.

Which languages is Qonic available in? English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese and Traditional Chinese, in both the dashboard and the application.
